what footprints shall I leave behind?
compareth me not to
Buddah’s knowledge
Confucious’ patience
da Vinci’s prodigiousness
Gandhi’s simplicity
Jesus’ purity
Longfellow’s prose
Michelangelo’s artistry
Mother Teresa’s love
Shakespeare’s drama
Thoreau’s enlightenment
yet, I drink the water that quenched their thirst
and, breathe the air that gave them life
and, laid footfall on the dust of this earth
yet, on a path uniquely my own.
